cinnamon buns

Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk warmed to the touch
  • 2-1/2 teaspoons quick-rise yeast
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter unsalted, softened
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 cups all purpose (or plain) flour
  • 1/2 cup loosely packed brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup butter melted

Instructions

  1. Dissolve the yeast in the warm milk with a tbsp of sugar (you can take a tbsp out of the 1/2 cup of sugar) in a large bowl. Let it sit for about 10 minutes. If the yeast is good, it will start to froth up.
  2. In mixer bowl, cream butter with sugar. Add eggs and mix.
  3. To the bowl of your mixer add the sugar, butter, salt, eggs, and yeast mixture. Add flour.
  4. Add milk/yeast and mix until a soft dough forms.
  5. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead until smooth and elastic (about 2 minutes kneading), occasionally rolling into the flour on your bench top to prevent the dough sticking to your fingers.
  6. Place the dough into an oiled bowl, cover and let rise in a warm place about 1 hour or until the dough has doubled in size.
  7. Combine the brown sugar and cinnamon in a bowl.
  8. Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter.
  9. Roll out dough onto a lightly floured surface, into a 19-inch x 13–inch rectangle.
  10. Brush the melted butter over the dough and sprinkle evenly with brown sugar and cinnamon. Gently rub the cinnamon mixture into the butter.
  11. Beginning at one long side, roll up dough tightly like a jelly-roll; then gently pinch the seam down to seal.
  12. Cut the dough into 1 1/2 inch slices, and place in a lightly greased baking pan. You can also use floss to cut into slices, as seen in the video. Place the cut rolls in the prepared pan. 1. Cover with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap and let them rise for another 30 minutes, or until doubled in size.
  13. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  14. Uncover rolls; bake for 25 minutes, or until lightly golden.
